Director of Forensic Services
Brazos County is building a brand new Medical Examiner's Office. We are looking for a Director of Forensic Services to build and lead a team that will ultimately become the Brazos County's Medical Examiner's Office by January 2027.
Starting Salary: $290,000/DOE
Location: Brazos County, Texas
Department: Forensic Services
Reports To: Commissioners Court
FLSA Status: Exempt
About the Role
Brazos County is seeking a dedicated Director of Forensic Services to lead our Forensic Services department (that will transition to a Medical Examiner’s Office no later than January 2027) and will oversee all operations with expertise and precision. This is a unique opportunity to manage a highly skilled team, conduct critical forensic investigations, and play a key role in the justice system.
The selected candidate will transition into the role of Medical Examiner, leading the Medical Examiner’s Office and further advancing forensic services in the county. Additionally, the facility has been designed with education in mind and the selected candidate will have the opportunity to provide training in forensic pathology to medical students, fostering the next generation of forensic experts.
What We’re Looking For
Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) from an accredited medical college or university.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Forensic Pathologist with expertise in autopsies, forensic analysis, and trauma assessments. (Preferred: 10 years and 2 years of administrative experience).
Licenses & Certifications:
- Licensed to practice medicine in Texas.
- Board certification in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
Skills: Strong leadership, forensic analysis, medical examination, and courtroom testimony abilities.
