Position Overview

At Bread Alone we are committed to the environment, to the community that has supported us for over 40 years, and our love of craft. Founded in 1983, our artisan Boiceville campus was recently renovated into the nation's first and only carbon-neutral bakery and commissary. As a part of our team, you will work collaboratively and cross functionally between the cafe and the seasonal wood-fired pizza stand.


Looking for a dynamic and engaging role in the beautiful Catskill Mountains? Join our team at our Boiceville Campus! We're currently seeking an enthusiastic and personable Front of House Staff Member to work in our Cafe as well as our seasonal Pizza Stand on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (as well as holiday Mondays). This position offers a great opportunity to experience the hospitality industry with a chance for growth into a full-time role.


What You Can Expect:

  • Unique Experience: Work at a one-of-a-kind pizza stand, where you’ll interact directly with customers and our skilled pizza chef while enjoying breathtaking views of the Catskill Mountains. Crossing over into the cafe will allow you to work alongside this team as well providing great customer service to our local and out-of- town guests.
     
  • Room for Growth: This is a seasonal role with potential for full-time employment based on performance and business needs.

Hours: The position requires availability on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holiday Mondays. Shifts will range from 8 to 10 hours, scheduled between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Flexibility is essential, as shift times and durations may vary based on business demands and team scheduling needs. Candidates must be able to work the assigned shift, including any necessary adjustments that may arise. We strive to make schedules as manageable as possible to encourage and allow work/life balance.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Perform other related duties and side work as assigned by The Pizza Stand Supervisor or Manager on Duty 


Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience in retail customer service. Food and drink handling is essential
  • Prior experience in professional cooking, baking, bartending, or a related discipline is preferred and a genuine passion and willingness to learn is essential
  • Flexibility to accommodate scheduling changes as dictated by the needs of the business while attending all scheduled shifts
  • Prior experience with cash handling
  • Able to pull, push, move and lift to waist level and carry awkward and shifting weights up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work with, handle, operate, and control hot equipment and products in a safe manner according to Bread Alone guidelines
  • Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a positive team-oriented mindset
  • Attention to detail and a focus on daily execution of high level customer service
  • Weekend availability - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Holiday Mondays)
  • Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace 
  • Physical endurance to manage extended working periods, standing for long periods of time and handle physical demands while executing tasks quickly and accurately in loud environment that has a large footprint
  • Able to twist and bend repeatedly for long periods of time
  • Willing to take responsibility for your own and others safety as well as follow safety rules and regulations and report any unsafe conditions to management
  • Willing to follow all food safety regulations and guidelines which include but are not limited to: Removing any visible or exposed piercings and body jewelry, personal accessories, false nails & refraining from cologne or makeup at work (e.g. mascara, nail polish, heavy foundation, etc)
  • The Boiceville campus is open 365 days a year and team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year which includes holidays and weekends


Job-Type:  Seasonal with full-time potential, non-exempt


Compensation Details: Bread Alone is deeply committed to ethically balancing the demands of the business and paying a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. Pay for this position is $16.50 to $19.00 per hour, plus tips.
