What are the responsibilities and job description for the Culinary Cook position at Bread Alone Bakery?
Description
Position Overview:
At Bread Alone we are committed to the environment, to the community that has supported us for over 40 years, and our love of craft. Founded in 1983, our artisan Boiceville campus was recently renovated into the nation's first and only carbon-neutral bakery and commissary. As a part of our team, you will work collaboratively and cross functionally between the cafe, wood-fired pizza stand, and high volume savory commissary to serve exceptional foods.
In this role your focus will be on making pizza, working on the line in the cafe, and supplying all three of our cafe kitchens with high quality components (including a full range of our savory items from scratch made sauces to locally sourced proteins). You will be responsible for properly stocking your station, cooking dish components where applicable, and dish composition including plating and garnishing of cooked items. You must be able to execute the menu to spec, keep on top of FIFO product rotation, and practice the highest level of food safety at all times. Members of the culinary team are expected to hold a complete working knowledge of all recipes and techniques as well as the ability to use a variety of equipment and move back and forth between stations seamlessly. Team members must work efficiently and precisely at a high level consistently, building good work habits while positively contributing to our culture.
We are interested in meeting you if you are driven to learn, want to hone your skills, and want to help us build a workplace community that encourages each team member to participate in making our food and baked goods better every day.
Hours: The culinary day runs from 6 am to 6 pm, with weekends in the pizza stand running to 7 pm or later in summer. This role will run on a five day schedule and candidates should expect 40 hours per week depending on seasonal need. Some flexibility in schedule, but weekend availability is a requirement. We strive to make schedules as manageable as possible to encourage and allow work/life balance.
Bread Alone's Worldview: Bread Alone Began in 1983 with simple intention: To feed people organic bread baked from a wood-fire brick oven. We run the bakery today with the optimistic belief that good food, an equitable economy and a healthy planet can thrive together. At the heart of our endeavors lies the profound belief that individuals are integral to every positive impact we make. Join us as we collectively strive for excellence in aligning our aspirations with meaningful actions.
