College Counselor

Breakaway Prep is seeking a College Counselor to provide personalized support to high school students navigating the college admissions process. This role involves helping students identify colleges that align with their goals, guiding them through applications, and collaborating with our essay specialists. Ideal candidates have experience in college admissions or counseling and are eager to help students succeed in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet with students to discuss academic performance, extracurricular activities, and college/career goals.
• Provide guidance on college selection, admissions strategies, and application timelines.
• Collaborate with essay specialists to assist students in crafting strong applications.
• Communicate with parents and team members to ensure comprehensive support.
• Maintain records of student interactions, applications, and outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Some experience in college admissions, school counseling, or a related area.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Familiarity with college application platforms (e.g., Common App, Naviance).
• Empathy, patience, and a student-focused approach.

Work Environment:

• Primarily in-person at our office(s).
• Flexible hours, mainly after school (3 PM onward) and weekends during the school year.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
