What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director, Operations, Transitional Housing position at Breaking Ground?
Reporting to the Director, Programs, Transitional Housing the Assistant Director, Operations oversees the daily operations and residence supervision for Breaking Ground’s transitional housing portfolio, including safe havens, stabilization beds, and drop-in centers. Daily operations include meal services, access control, incident management and reporting, laundry services, intake and census management, and recreational activities. The Assistant Director supervises Shift Supervisors assigned to transitional housing sites across the Breaking Ground portfolio.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure appropriate 24/7 Residential Aide staffing at all transitional housing sites in compliance with city and state regulations
Supervise Shift Supervisors across all shifts
Oversee high quality standards for daily client services: meal service, security screenings, room inspections, client transportation, intake for new admissions, incident management, residence and community supervision, and recreational activities
Monitor census management and incident reporting and conduct routine audits
Work collaboratively with transitional housing Program Directors to ensure daily client services meet the needs of program and solve resident-related issues
In partnership with Human Resources, oversee training schedules for all transitional housing staff including maintaining compliance with Breaking Ground best practices, DHS and OTDA regulations, CPR-First Aid, Overdose Prevention, Certificate of Fitness and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
Implement FDNY-approved Fire Life Safety plans, required recordkeeping procedures and conduct monthly audits of all logbooks
Liaise with contracted security teams to ensure adherence to DHS and OTDA regulations and Breaking Ground’s standard operating procedures and security plans
Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a residential setting serving homeless or other vulnerable populations with experience in harm reduction, trauma- informed care, housing first and non-violent crisis intervention
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
Experience and proficiency with property management and case management software
Fire Life Safety Director Certification preferred
Experience with Footholds and CARES preferred
On-call availability
Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
