Reporting to the AVP, Donor Engagement, the National Manager, Strategic Donor Engagement Events will lead the design, facilitation, and execution of high-quality major gift donor events in support of Breakthrough T1D’s strategic plan and comprehensive campaign. The National Manager will partner closely with organization leadership to develop compelling experiences for its highest level of donors and volunteers that provide exposure to and support of Breakthrough T1D’s mission and impact. This includes collaboration with the office of the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Global Development Officer, leadership of Scientific Research and Advocacy teams, and key staff and volunteers including those on the International Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet. This position is part of the Strategic Philanthropic Initiatives team and will have the opportunity to contribute to organizational strategy with a high degree of visibility.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner in the overall development and execution of high-touch, major and principal donor engagement and stewardship through national and international events.
- Identify, recommend, and coordinate opportunities to leverage in-person and virtual events towards increased relationship-building.
- Create and execute processes that strengthen cross-departmental collaboration during the event execution including collaborating with Corporate and Institutional Giving, Leadership Giving, Strategic Philanthropic Communications, and Marketing and Communications teams.
- Develop, plan, and execute event budget management for annual events that translate scientific complexity into engaging and inspiring experiences.
- Lead all planning and logistics for Breakthrough T1D’s annual Mission Summit – a multi-day stewardship event attended by major and principal gift donors, organization volunteer leaders and key executive and fundraising staff members.
- Partner with other Global Development teams, the office of the CEO and with Breakthrough T1D volunteer leadership for individual hosted events in support of the Breakthrough T1D comprehensive campaign; ensure the organization’s CEO and volunteers receive a high degree of service and sophistication.
- Work closely with Strategic Philanthropic Communications team members on the design of event collateral including invitations, programs, presentations and talking points. Manage production of all necessary event materials such as name tags, place cards, programs and invitation copy, timelines and budgets.
- Develop and send event related communications such as invitations and mailing materials and drive the coordination of post-event follow-up plans and reports.
- Work collaboratively with the Meetings and Travel team to execute event venue and city selection, hotel negotiations, and maintenance of vendor relationships.
- Manage RSVP process for all assigned events as well as the maintenance of mailing lists to ensure accuracy of information.
- Analyze event outcomes and identify areas of opportunity for continuous improvement.

Qualifications
- 5 years’ experience involving expert skills in all aspects of event planning/management, including thorough understanding of effective design, organization, and production of quality events
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to serve as a strategic thinker, capable of providing positive and proactive solutions to challenges and opportunities and long-term event strategy planning.
- Strong analytical skills and adaptability.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and the ability to form and sustain working relationships within a complex organization.
- Ability to give clear directives and use independent, rational judgment to make optimal decisions
- Demonstrated experience of managing impactful events.
- Ability to lead teams in the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of complex events involving multiple constituencies.
- Demonstrated data and database management skills; prior experience with Salesforce preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and data security.
- Passion for the mission of Breakthrough T1D with a strong commitment to its core values.
- College degree in related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to travel (20-30% of the time) including overnight and weekends, domestic and some international travel
Target Salary - $75k - $95k
