We are looking for an Assistant Packaging Manager who can effectively partner with our Packaging Manager to run and evolve the department as the company expands. The person in this role will work closely with Packaging team members day to day to ensure they meet production goals set out by the Packaging Manager. This will include overseeing and adjusting packaging schedules, providing direction, guidance, and coaching to team members, and handling personnel issues. In addition, this person will collaborate with the Packaging Manager to implement and run packaging solutions as we introduce more products and expand our offerings. They will partner with other departments to develop packaging schedules and ensure products are packaged and delivered in a timely manner to the relevant retail locations. The person in this role should have at least 1-3 years of people management experience in a setting where high volumes of consumer packaged goods are being packaged and sold. They should be organized, detail-oriented, and be able to set and hold a high standard for the quality of the end product. They should also be able to create a positive and collaborative team environment that is conducive to packaging team members' growth.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Ensure the Packaging department is safe, organized, and compliant with any applicable cGMPs; build and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be in line cGMPs
- Oversee execution of packaging schedules and adjust as needed based on direction from Packaging Manager
- Act as a point of contact for issues and escalations from team members
- Partner with the Packaging Manager to hire, train, and coach team members; issue discipline and corrective action as necessary
- Coach and mentor Packaging team members with a focus on their future professional growth
- Understand laws and regulations related to cannabis packaging in New Jersey and ensure they are followed
- Develop an understanding of Breakwater's packaging technologies and their features; determine where solutions could fit in current and future processes
- Execute quality assurance and auditing of packaged goods to ensure products meet Breakwater's exacting standards
- Increase efficiency of packaging operation through suggesting changes in people, process, and technology
- Assist in developing packaging processes and standards for new products as the company researches and develops new product lines
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Manager, and Grow Managers to monitor batch changes and ensure third party testing of products is completed in a timely manner
- Keep Batch Sheets and Packaging Logs up to date and organized
- 1-3 years managing packaging or inventory teams in environments with high volume, continuously evolving product lines, and rigorous standards for cleanliness
- Demonstrated success managing a team and creating a positive work environment with low attrition
- Track record of working with packaging automation technologies and training staff on those technologies to increase efficiency and expand employee skill sets
- Experience meeting packaging schedules and overseeing shift schedules for teams of 10 or more
- Commitment to and examples of developing team members with a specific focus on their long term growth
- Knowledge of and / or willingness to learn state specific cannabis laws and regulatory compliance
- Intermediate proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Sheets and Excel
- Organized with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate across departments, persuade through sound logic and reasoning, and understand what motivates their team
- Track record of conflict resolution and ability to manage difficult or emotional situations

- Observes and adheres to regulatory, safety and security procedures
- Familiarity with packaging equipment and the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance
