Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our small but mighty team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing essential support to our outside accounting team in preparing financial reporting. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of our financial processes and will involve collaboration with various staff, clients, committees and vendors to ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
Job Duties
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments in collaboration with outsourced accounting.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger accounts in collaboration with outsourced accounting.
- Conduct credit and debit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
- Perform bank reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues as needed.
- Assist in budgeting processes by providing necessary financial data and insights.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all accounting practices.
- Support technical accounting functions as required, including the preparation of financial reports.
- Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
- Collaborate with coworkers to gather necessary information for financial analysis and reporting.
- Work with COO and development staff to ensure revenue and donations are coded, processed, recorded and tracked accurately.
Working Relationships:
- Reports to COO, CEO and works alongside outside accounting firm.
- Assists outside accounting firm in providing on-going financial information to staff and Board of Directors.
Experience
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting role is required.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts, including budgeting and reconciliation processes.
- Familiarity with GAAP principles and practices is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel is preferred for effective performance in this role.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are critical for success.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
Work Environment:
· The job takes place in an office setting at the BCFO location in Springfield. This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. It may require you to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time interchangeably due to the essential duties. The employee may also travel between the office and the four-state service area (Joplin), other corporate offices, non-profit agencies, and event locations. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
