The Construction Tech 1 works at BREC parks and facilities performing a wide variety of construction related duties. The Construction Tech 1 is required to carry out jobs as part of a crew, often without direct supervision and will handle day to day construction duties. The position is required to understand how to construct park features, understand construction techniques, and anticipate job flow.Education Required: No formal education required

License(s) Required: Valid LA driver’s license.

- Hands-on skills and knowledge of construction work including carpentry, concrete work, painting, grading and general knowledge of construction principles.
- Knowledge of recreation facilities, equipment and playing fields.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to resolve conflict and foster positive/productive team environment.
- Skill in the use of light-duty to medium-duty equipment
- Skill in the operation of hand and power tools
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees

Essential Functions and Job Duties:
- Drive BREC pick-up truck to and from work site
- Gather tools, equipment and materials and securely load onto truck and trailer
- Maintain and clean equipment, prepare building materials for use, straighten, and organize surplus building materials
- Assist Construction Foreman and Construction Tech 2 with layout and construction of jobs
- Assists in inspecting BREC projects for safe conditions, work progress/completion, and quality work
- Ensure compliance with BREC policies and procedures.
- Responsible for communicating design problems to supervisors in a timely manner.
Secondary Job Duties
- Prepare, prime and paint various interior and exterior items
- Plant, feed, and water grass seed, sod, and plants.
- Pouring and finishing concrete
