The Painter works in the BREC centers and at various facilities, performing a variety of routine painting and maintenance tasks, independently subject to periodic inspection and supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education Required: H.S, diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Vo-tech school diploma or associate's degree.
Area of Study (major) Preferred: Construction
License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license.
Years Relevant Work Experience: 4 years experience in public or commercial painting, staining, sheetrock & wallpaper hanging.
Preferred: 10 or more years related experience.

- Ability to closely follow written and verbal orders
- Plaster, tile & grout experience desired
- Preparing and painting various buildings, structures, and surfaces throughout the BREC system as assigned.
- Preparing woodwork, plaster and stainable materials for coated preservation.
- Repairing surfaces and preparing for hanging sheetrock, plaster and wallpaper.
- Painting interior and exterior of all buildings and recreational structures including swimming pools, tennis courts, playing fields, railings, vehicles; coating flat roofs.
- Refinishing gym floors
- Striping parking lots.
- Stenciling signs and directional markers.
- Mixing, matching and applying paint using a spray gun, roller and/or brush.
Secondary Job Duties
- Providing guidance and direction to temp workers and helpers.
- Other duties as assigned.
