The Assistant Director of Communications: Brand and Creative Services is responsible for the brand and public image of the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC). The Assistant Director is responsible the graphic design, visual production, and printing budget for the Communications department. Responsible to the Director of Communications for developing and implementing policies, procedures, strategies and techniques for ensuring that the BREC brand is consistent, prominent, and well known throughout East Baton Rouge Parish. The Assistant Director is also responsible for the internal print shop and its operations, staff, and maintenance to ensure that it effectively and efficiently meets the needs of the agency. This role ensures a streamlined process from design to production on all promotional and advertising materials.

Education Required: Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university. Education Preferred: Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Area of Study (major) Required: Graphic Design or related professional design fieldArea of Study Preferred: Graphic Design or closely related fieldCertification(s) Required: N/ACertification(s) Preferred: Senior Practitioner Certification License(s) Required: Valid LA Drivers License. Years Relevant Work Experience: Eight (8) years full-time graphic design in communications, public relations, marketing or related field with at least one (2) year supervisory experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredYears Relevant Work Preferred: 10 or more years related experienceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of current accepted concepts and practices of graphic design, public relations and marketing, and commercial printingKnowledge of print shop operationsKnowledge of print shop software and equipmentAbility to develop and maintain a budget, complete reports such as financial, payroll and activity reports according to established BREC financial proceduresKnowledge of the communities served by the organization, including community’s attitudes, concerns and interest, community groups, individual representatives and to the mediaKnowledge of current and accepted management concepts and practicesProficient in InDesign and the Adobe Creative Suite is requiredStrong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and writtenExcellent attention to detail, creativity, flexibility and detailed-oriented.
