This position involves caretaking and public education responsibilites for Art programs internal and external for BREC. Entails business management, art administration, promotion, sales, public relations, volunteer development/managment and interpersonal contact with public, patrons, artists, and BREC staff. The individual has administrative, management, budgeting, staffing, and program responsibilities.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Education Required: Graduation from an accredited 4 year college or universityPreferred: Master's degree from an accredited college or university Area of Study (Major): Fine Arts, Arts Administration or closely related discpline License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license Years Relevant Work Experience: Two (2) years full-time experience in arts or closely related and facility management and/or arts programming. An equivalent number of education and experience will be considered. Preferred: 5 or more years related experience Other Job Specifications: Knowledge of municipal recreation management principles and proceduresFamiliar with current art activities, exhibits, programs and services to assist customers Knowledge of basic math/financial reports/budgetingKnowledge of and skill in the use of various software applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Office Suites, Rec Trac, AssetWorks, HR/Financial software, etc.Knowledge of purchasing proceduresStrong interpersonal skills & ability to relate to others in a positive mannerCreative programming skills with the ability to assist in developing programs for diverse populationsStrong ability to relate effectively with people of diverse cultural and economic backgroundsPublic relations skills and public speaking abilityAbility to multi task is essentialAbility to quickly learn BREC policies and procedures and ProgramsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, staff, volunteers, patrons, BREC officials, community interest groups, and the general public.Ability to always provide a high level of customer services to the public with tact and courtesyAbility to work flexible hours including holidays, evenings, and weekends for programs or eventsAbility and interest in creative display & promotionAbility to develop and maintain a budget, complete reports such as financial, payroll, and activity reports according to established BREC financial proceduresAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, staff, volunteers, patrons, BREC officials, community interest groups, and the public*Preferred requirements Bachelor of Fine Arts, Art History, or Liberal Arts Degree with 3 years of informal or formal teaching and program facilitation experience working with youth, adults, seniors, and outreach offerings.*

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Full-time position; scheduled within framework of 8 hours per day; 5 days per week for a minimum of 40 hours per week; may vary according to special events; frequent weekend and evening work; lunch break daily; overtime as required; weekend work and split shifts may be required.Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of a completed application.
