The School Nurse substitute is someone who will substitute for one of two on-site school nurses who works with the other Health Center Staff to manage and provide direct care to students and staff.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Requires standing, sitting, bending, lifting, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching. Ability to lift students as required and has the stamina to stand all day as needed.

Job Summary
The School Nurse substitute is someone who will substitute for one of two on-site school nurses who works with the other Health Center Staff to manage and provide direct care to students and staff.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with the Health Center Staff to provide and administer health care, first aid, emergency care and 911 contact (when necessary) to students, faculty and staff
- Administers and monitors medications as necessary
- Documents and manages records and visits to the health centerCommunicates student health concerns to parents and staff as necessary
- Coordinates medical care with outside physicians as necessary
- Ensures compliance with procedures and protocols, including compliance with HIPAA
- Gathers, secures, and stores medical records and medications
- Follows appropriate legal procedures for suspected cases of child abuse and neglect
- Builds rapport and maintains confidentiality with students, parents, faculty and staff
- Collaborates with Divisions Directors, Deans and Athletics with regard to student health, safety, and general well-being, including compliance with HIPAA and COVID-19 protocols
- Stays current with best practices for school nurses
- Supports the mission of the school
- Works collaboratively with others
- Performs other related work as required
- RN preferred
- One to 3 years nursing experience preferred
- First aid and CPR certification required
- Has a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and professionalism in dealing with students, parents and colleagues.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative connections with internal and external partners. Work independently and on interdisciplinary teams.
