What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Mechanic position at Brenntag Mid-South, Inc.?
Your Role & Responsibilities
Assume responsibility for the Fleet Maintenance Department.
Work with and help solve problems with equipment at individual plants and branches.
Oversee parts shipments made to other locations within the company.
Advise and make recommendations on specifications of new equipment.
Prepare new vehicles before assigning to a company plant or branch.
Manage interior tank and exterior vehicle wash operation.
Assist in writing new procedures pertaining to the maintenance of the fleet.
Participate in employee meetings concerning safety, training sessions and upcoming projects.
Conduct all tank inspections and testing on tank trailers and portable tanks.
Responsibility for maintenance and repair of fleet equipment.
Responsibility for ensuring that tankers and portable tanks are properly cleaned to prevent product contamination.
Responsibility to assist Fleet Maintenance supervisor receive proper training in their area of work, and continually update training as needed.
Responsibility for area housekeeping.
Responsibility to ensure equipment meets regulatory and company guidelines.
Your Profile
Education and Experience:
A good safety and attendance record.
Thorough understanding of the importance of customer service and the ability to work cooperatively with other departments and personnel in meeting customer needs.
Knowledge of fork lift operation, with certification.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Working knowledge of D. O. T. regulations.
Good math, bookkeeping, and organization skills.
Computer skills sufficient to efficiently perform the job requirements.
Ability to understand and comply with all company policies and procedures pertinent to the Fleet Maintenance Department.
Ability to understand and carry out process descriptions applicable to the job.
Willingness to accept overtime (both scheduled and impromptu), to be subject to and available for call-in, and to work other shifts as needed to meet customer needs.
