What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groups and Missions Minister - The Church at Lockeland Springs position at Brentwood Baptist Church?
The Lockeland Springs Groups & Missions Minister is responsible to the church, under the direction of the Campus & Teaching Pastor to develop and give overall direction and execution of all adult Discipleship with attention to young adults and young families. Additionally, the Groups & Missions Minister is responsible for coordinating, implementing and evaluating the local and global serving efforts of the campus.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
ADULT GROUPS
- In coordination with the Campus & Teaching Pastor, implement and oversee a strategy that establishes & supports a growing number of group opportunities that engage adults in biblical community.
- Effectively identify, coach, and support a consistent & growing number of adult group leaders.
- Facilitate & multiply disciple-making opportunities across the geographic area that the campus serves.
- Using the church’s Disciple-Making Strategy (i.e., DXD strategy) as a template, implement a plan to equip and mobilize a growing number of people to share their faith and make disciples where they live, work, and play.
- Serve as a conduit for the Lockeland Springs congregation to get connected to discipleship groups.
- Provide regular Focus Studies and other equipping/learning opportunities that result in developing people towards maturity in Christ.
MISSIONS
- Engage and equip the Lockeland Springs congregation for mission opportunities to serve both locally and globally
- Consistently develop ongoing partnerships with campus-specific Hope for the World partners.
- Plan, organize and implement short-term mission journey & mobilize congregants for participation.
- Maintain a detailed process for capturing stories of life-transformation and decisions for Christ, as a result of local and global missions opportunities.
- Serve as a bridge to connect the campus to local community ministries and non-profit entities for the sake of partnership in ministry.
- Organize and provide regular opportunities for service and outreach that engage the whole person with the whole gospel in East Nashville and beyond.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
- Effectively communicate with and & work alongside the campus Administrative Assistant.
- Effectively maintain a personal & professional self-development plan.
- Report to the Campus & Teaching Pastor at least monthly on progress towards goals and initiatives.
- Participate in cross-campus Groups and Mission ministers’ meetings and other opportunities for collaboration.
- Provide oversight, accountability, and regular reporting for the budget related to all assigned ministries.
- Be available to serve as a Sunday AM decision counselor, ministerial counselor, on-call minister.
- Collaborate with and regularly attend the All-Campus Ministry Team meetings for their assigned ministry area(s).
- Perform weddings & funerals as needed and serve in the Minister On-Call, on rotation and/or as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A personal sense of calling from God to vocational Christian ministry in general and to this particular area of ministry.
- Can identify closely with the mission, values, vision, theology, philosophy and methodology of Brentwood Baptist Church.
- A mature Christian who is demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit, is growing in their faith and is committed to spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading and prayer.
- The proven ability to identify, equip and lead a team of volunteers.
- Ability to collaborate, cooperate and function well in a team environment.
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. Seminary degree (or in progress) is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the local church or Christian ministry context required.
