Job Description
As a Staff Accountant with Brewco Marketing Group, you will play a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial data. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing journal entries, debt service, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers.
You will assist in monthly closings, cash management, budget preparation, and account analysis, supporting the Accounting Manager in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, credit card expense report reconciliation, cash management, collections, etc.)
- Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including fixed assets, employer's benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses
- Manage the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions
- Manage the processing of staff credit card expense reports and receipts via Concur
- Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenues and receivables
- Maintain employee confidence
- Perform the processing of monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries
- Prepare and analyze the monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports per program and department
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, budget performance, and interim financial reporting
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity; analyze data; ensure compliance with applicable standards (GAAP), rules, regulations and systems of internal control; interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation; create financial reports and/or presentations
- Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with attention to details and good record keeping
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Outlook and especially Excel)
- Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization
- High level of interpersonal skills and demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
- Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends. Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a Bachelor's degree in business with emphasis in accounting, is required
- Minimum of one to three years accounting or finance experience
