What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at Brewer Morris?
We’re seeking a Payroll Specialist to help manage and execute biweekly payroll cycles for a large, multi-state employee base for a luxury brand in Melbourne. In this role, you’ll support with payroll operations, audits, and reporting, while contributing to broader payroll projects and process improvements.
What You’ll Do:
- Handle biweekly payroll processing, ensuring accurate entry of employee data and reviewing time submissions
- Conduct checks before and after payroll runs to ensure everything balances correctly
- Prepare necessary payroll documentation for internal funding and Treasury coordination
- Generate various internal reports, including staffing levels, wage summaries, and tax insights
- Assist with year-end reconciliations and summary reporting of employee earnings and deductions
- Take part in payroll-related projects and provide support as needed to the team lead
What You’ll Bring:
- Degree in Accounting, Business, or related area (Associate or Bachelor’s)
- At least 3-5 years of experience managing payroll and time tracking with UKG and Workforce Management (Dimensions) required
- Hands-on experience running payroll for 1,000 employees across different states or business units
- Strong understanding of wage laws, garnishment handling, tax compliance, and timekeeping processes
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and stay organized under deadlines
- Great with team collaboration, detail-focused, and proactive in solving issues
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.)
- Familiarity with expat payroll is helpful but not necessary
- CPP certification and APA affiliation are pluses
