SY 25-26: Summer Nurse

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Extended Day, the Summer Nurse will be responsible for providing healthcare services to students and staff during the summer program. This includes responding to medical incidents, administering medication, and promoting a safe and healthy environment. The nurse will work closely with school administrators, teachers, and families to ensure students' well-being.

Schedule: July 7 – August 1, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:15 PM

Specifically, they will be responsible for:

Medical Care & Emergency Response

• Assess and treat minor injuries and illnesses, escalating care as needed.
• Administer prescribed medications in compliance with state regulations and school policies.
• Triage and manage student emergencies as they arise.
• Maintain accurate health records and document all medical incidents.
• Coordinate with the director of operations to obtain updated health records for all students and communicate with families as needed.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the nurse’s office and health files.
• Attend weekly field trips.

Health & Safety Compliance

• Monitor students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies) and implement individualized health care plans in collaboration with parents/guardians and students, when appropriate.
• Work with the director of operations  to implement and evaluate summer health activities.

Collaboration & Professional Development

• Work closely with the director of operations to support student health needs.
• Solicit and welcome critical feedback to improve health services.
• Weekly check ins with the director of operations

Qualifications:

• Current RN or LPN license in Massachusetts.
• CPR and First Aid certification (valid through the summer session).
• Experience working with children in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

COMPENSATION

Salary Range : $45-$55 an hour
