Position Description

Bridge Prep is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and strategic Assistant Principal of Operations to help bring its mission to life. Reporting to the Principal, the Assistant Principal of Operations works passionately to ensure that staff maximize time and energy on student achievement by designing, implementing, and refining systems that anticipate the needs of the school community. As a service-oriented leader, the Assistant Principal of Operations solves problems, shares best practices, and responds to urgent needs. At Bridge Prep, the Assistant Principal of Operations is deeply committed to leading the school in operational leadership, school culture, and family and community engagement.
Essential Functions:
- Operational Leadership
- Leads a team including the Dean of Culture, Family Coordinator, and Operations Assistants.
- Leads all aspects of school-based operations, including facilities, food and transportation services, school schedules, student rosters and databases, visitors, and school employee time off.
- Serves as the school-based point of contact for the Division of School Safety, Office of Food Services, Office of Pupil Transportation and Custodial team.
- Manages operations staff and ensures the smooth operation of the main office.
- Ensures school-wide compliance with health and safety laws, charter contracts, state education mandates, teacher certification, and federal and state workplace regulations.
- Works with the Principal and members of the Media and Recruitment Coordinator to support the school’s student recruitment and retention efforts to ensure fiscal solvency.
- Works with the Principal and Finance Coordinator to manage school-based financial processes in accordance with the organization’s Financial Policies and Procedures.
- Collaborates with the school’s technology consultant to ensure a fully functioning infrastructure.
- Works with the Principal and members of the Senior Leadership Team to manage the school’s yearly reporting requirements (NYSED, NYCDOE, USDOE, BEDS, etc.) by collecting and analyzing various data for submission and use.
- Works with the Principal and members of the Senior Leadership Team to manage the school’s budget, finances, and relationships with outside vendors.
- Regularly analyzes data to drive improvements in systems and operations.
- Performs formal and informal classroom observations and uses data to provide guidance, feedback, and modifications needed to advance student growth and continuously improve classroom culture within the school-wide behavioral support programs and systems.
- School Culture
- Identifies structures and implements programs that support the establishment and maintenance of a joyful, rigorous, and safe school culture.
- Supports the Principal and other Assistant Principals in fostering consistency in academic and behavioral expectations through the provision of feedback and targeted Professional Learning.
- Ensures that traditions and rituals that support the school mission are built and maintained.
- Establishes goals aligned with the Principal’s vision related to attendance and behavior.
- Manages the Dean of Culture and the implementation of all elements of the Code of Conduct, including the school’s dress code policy.
- Family & Community Engagement
- Promotes and participates in regular communication with families about their children's performance, school policies, trips, and events.
- Serves as the point person for the planning and coordination of after school programming, Summer School programming and engagement with community based organizations working with the school.
- Manages the Family Coordinator to foster a deeply engaged school community of families, community-based organizations, and leaders.
- Facilitates multiple opportunities and methods to obtain parent and community stakeholder feedback to assure successful achievement of school and organizational goals around stakeholder satisfaction.
Reporting: This is a full time position reporting to the Principal or their designee. Additionally, this position works closely with the Director of Strategy and members of the Senior Leadership Team.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree is required
- At least three years of leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of achievement in school culture and the established of systems
- At least two years experience in leading, managing, and/or coaching a team of adults
- Project planning experience with proven ability to see large projects through to completion
- A deep commitment to and alignment with the educational philosophy and core beliefs of Bridge Prep
- A high level of ownership over the overall outcomes of the students and staff they lead
- Passionate commitment to improve the minds, characters, and lives of students
- Ability to think strategically and innovatively, in order to continuously improve school operations
- Proactive, strategic problem-solver who is able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment, often while balancing competing priorities
- The ability to deliver clear and effective feedback in various forms
- A hunger for feedback on their work and self-improvement

Salary: Compensation is commensurate with experience, ranging from $100,000-$130,000 annually.
