Bridgercare is seeking a Medical Assistant or a Patient Care Technician, certification preferred but not required. The Medical Assistant (MA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides patient support functions in the clinical role to support Bridgercare’s mission. Job duties include rooming patients, assessing vital signs, preliminary health history, performing rapid testing, performing phlebotomy, providing results and basic reproductive, birth control and STI patient information.
32-40 hours/week- No weekends!
$20-25 DOE and certification

POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant (MA) provides patient support functions in the clinical role to support Bridgercare’s mission and clinical services according to Title X guidelines. The MA is under the direct supervision of the Nurse Supervisor.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform clinical support tasks including rooming patients, assessing vital signs, preliminary health history, performing rapid testing, providing results and basic reproductive, birth control and STI patient information. Accurately prepare lab specimens for transport to lab and order and receive labs per the electronic interface.
2. Perform CLIA moderate complexity tests such as affirms, chlamydia and gonorrhea.
3. Answer patient phone calls and listen/respond to medical voicemail
4. Assist Providers and patients in contraceptive and reproductive clinical procedures and consent patients for procedures.
5. Provide patient education as needed, under supervision of our Medical Director
6. Participate in staff meetings and training as scheduled.
7. Communicate effectively orally and in writing; proficiency in computers required.
8. Coordinate and work cooperatively with fellow staff as well as independently.
9. Comfortably, respectfully discuss sensitive issues with clients, including patient care circumstances for purposes of scheduling and triage.
10. Learn and assist in clinical support procedures including blood pressure, pregnancy tests, urine specimen collection, rapid lab testing, correct preparation of lab specimens for transport, and vaccine management and uploading in ImMTrax.
11. Perform inventory management of lab supplies
12. Perform patient follow-up as indicated
13. Obtain case record information for reportable STI’s and complete contact tracing
14. Facilitate clinic operations in collaboration with Operations Assistant
15. Open communication with providers.
16. Open communication with patient coordinators.
17. Attending staff meetings
18. Serve on committees as desired
19. Other clinical support tasks as assigned by Lab Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Medical Assistant certification required
· High School graduate or equivalent
· Expertise and recent healthcare experience preferred, but not required
· Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
· Commitment to family planning philosophy and goals, including confidentiality, provision of services to adults and teens regardless of ability to pay, and comprehensive options counseling for unintended pregnancy and referral per Title X guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate or equivalent
