What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Director position at Bridges Reading and Writing Institute?
Bridges Reading and Writing Institute is seeking an experienced and well-qualified Education Director who specializes in teaching English Language Arts. Our institute works with students from 3rd to 8th grade. In addition to teaching their classes, the Education Director will have additional managerial responsibilities including:
- Train, supervise and manage teachers
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that foster literacy and writing skills in students.
- Curriculum development and instructional design
- Train and manage teachers to ensure that the curriculum is properly executed and helping teachers manage classroom dynamics
- Communicate with parents regarding progress of their children and address any parent concerns

A teaching credential is NOT required.
An English degree is highly desired.
The hours of teaching will be as follows:
- Tuesday (3:20 to 7:30 p.m.)
- Wednesday (2:15 to 6:30 p.m.)
- Thursday (4:30 to 6:30 p.m.)
- Friday (4:30 to 6:30 p.m.).
Continued part-time summer employment (Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) for six weeks is also required.
However, the Education will have additional hours outside of teaching involving curriculum development, training and managing teachers, and parent consultations and communications.
Our Education Director must have the following:
- An English degree.
- A strong background and passion for creative writing as well as analytical writing.
- Must display an understanding of active reading and the full writing process with the ability to facilitate the writer's workshops.
- Extremely organized
- Ability to manage and train other teachers
- Ability to develop curriculum
- Ability to professionally communicate with parents
Salary : $40 - $50
