Bookkeeper
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Bookkeeper is responsible for recording transactions, reconciling bank statements, and managing accounts payable/receivable, all while ensuring compliance with nonprofit regulations
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Accurately record all income and expenses, including donations, grants, fundraising events, and operational costs.
· Maintain Financial Records:
o Organize and maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, receipts, and invoices.
o Maintain general ledgers, which are used to produce balance sheets and income statements.
· Regularly reconcile bank statements with the organization's records to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
· Process invoices, make payments, and track outstanding debts.
· Enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets to keep the general ledger current.
· Assist with audits by providing financial records and explanations.
· Ensure that all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
· Make bank deposits.
· Ensure all financial records and reports are compliant with relevant regulations and accounting standards for nonprofits.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of three years of experience in all areas of bookkeeping with an Associate’s Degree or Certification in Accounting or Bookkeeping. Four year degree preferred.
· Must have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles
· Knowledge of Excel, Google Sheets, MS Office, and excellent computer skills required
· Able to work independently in a friendly, professional and efficient manner
· Adheres to all Agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to corporate compliance, personnel policies, HIPAA and all procedures
- Strong numerical ability and attention to detail
- Familiarity with accounting software like QuickBooks, Fund EZ or similar programs is essential.
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills; able to interact with all levels of associates both in the office and out in the community in a respectful and confidential manner.
