What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Control Specialist position at Bridgetown Natural Foods?
JOB SUMMARY: The individual in this role will serve as a contributor to Bridgetown Natural Foods’s ability to plan and forecast for future production needs by maintaining inventory integrity and accuracy, resolving variances, and coordinating the staging of materials. This Inventory Control Specialist must communicate effectively with the Material Planners and build a professional relationship with internal/external customers. Focus should be ensuring accuracy through organization, effective material tracking, measurements and processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead planning of batch pre-production raw material and packaging staging activities.
- Conduct and oversee periodic cycle counts based on established material priorities.
- Monitor inventory and production reporting to validate inventory usage. Perform end of batch production run inventory audits.
- Provide customer specific information as requested, including consigned inventory reporting.
- Maintain indexed and organized documentation of all transactions to support audits.
- Reconcile inventory discrepancies and makes adjustments to reconcile inventory.
- Support accuracy within item master records including material packaging type, pallet configuration and tare weights.
- Identify slow moving and close-to-expiration materials and coordinate for their disposition.
- Draft procedures and policies as appropriate based on gap analyses.
- Assist in training other staff as requested on Company policies and programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing/food production environment preferred.
- Must have strong quantitative skills
- Must demonstrate Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Candidate must be willing to learn Company inventory management system
- Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment, being flexible and adaptive to changing needs.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong time management skills required; ability to adhere to a schedule and sustain the required pace of work.
- Ability to handle multiple competing assignments without losing focus on quality and food safety, priorities and daily plans, as well as sticking to established workflows.
- Ability to understand and communicate instructions in English.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
- Able to work in an environment containing nuts, peanuts, dairy, grains and other allergens.
- Must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and accurately.
- Position may require standing, repetitive movement, bending and twisting, exposure to sustained noise levels; working in very hot temperatures; exposure to hazards such as machinery, slippery floors, and powered industrial vehicles. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be available for all shifts, nights, weekends, some holidays necessary and some overtime.
