What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sonography Program Director and Faculty position at BridgeValley CTC?
The Program Director/Faculty is responsible for academic and administrative leadership. A reassignment of teaching load is provided to carry out administrative duties. The program director is responsible for the structure and daily operation of the program. The Program Director reports directly to the respective Chair. This is a full-time, 10-month appointment. The 9-month salary range for this position is 40,000-45,000. Actual salary offer will be commensurate with education and experience.
Academic Duties:
- Provides didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction
- Develops course syllabus with goals and objectives
- Evaluates students learning to ensure that objectives are met
- Reports student progress at prescribed intervals
- Updates course materials as student learning dictates
- Adheres to the goals, policies, and mission of the Sonography programs as well as BridgeValley CTC
- Provides guidance and support and advises students
- Communicates with the Chair, BridgeValley administration, faculty, staff, professional organizations, as well as Joint Review Diagnostic Medical Sonography as needed
- Participates in professional development activities
- Meets with the Chair as needed
- Participates in recruiting activities
- Serves on the sonography advisory board
Administrative Duties:
- Supervise maintenance, replacement, and upgrades of laboratories and equipment
- Mange departmental budget
- Ensure compliance with accreditation and institutional reporting requirements
- Provide leadership for part-time/adjunct faculty
- Evaluate curricula for relevancy and consistency
- Schedule classes efficiently
- Responsible for the daily operation of the program
- Administration and periodic review and evaluation of program curricula
- Ensuring the effectiveness and maintenance of all clinical affiliations
Institutional Duties:
- Seek external funding
- Recommend trainers and adjunct faculty
- Promote sustainable practices
- Promote department activities
- Attend required meetings
- Other duties as assigned
The program director must:
- Possess a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree (a master’s degree is preferred)
- Possess an appropriate credential specific to one or more of the concentrations offered
- Have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques (documentation of experience in educational theories and techniques may include completed college courses, seminars, or in-services on topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques)
- Have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
