Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Review and verify patient information, insurance coverage, and billing details for accuracy.
- Utilize medical coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10) to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues with billing.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any coding or billing-related questions.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in medical billing systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, DRG, and coding practices.
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes and reimbursement policies.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
