Safety Coordinator
Brieser Construction Company is a leading civil industrial construction and maintenance contractor headquartered in Channahon IL doing business in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and Western Indiana. We provide a wide variety of services in the Industrial, Power, Chemical, Commercial and Food Processing Markets.
Brieser Construction is currently looking to add a Safety Coordinator to join our growing group of hardworking, intelligent, and dedicated employees. The Safety Coordinator responsible for the day-to-day safety department support and site visits. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Occupational Safety and Health and have at least 7 years relevant experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and motivate safety on a client project site with 100 employees.
- Work closely with the Director of Safety and on-site safety to implement processes and promote strong culture.
- Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
- Conduct daily jobsite audits to ensure compliance, and set expectations.
- Be a servant-leader with all personnel.
- Maintain safety related records for site personnel.
- Coordinate with other internal departments to manage safety supplies.
- Ensure all safety binders, permit packets, and policies are kept up to date and readable.
- Maintain records and maintenance of all gas monitoring equipment on site.
- Ensure all new hire and annual safety training are completed and documented.
- Assist with industrial hygiene testing, training, toolbox talks and practical hands-on training.
- The ability to mentor and support field personnel.
- Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of the job.
Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements
To be considered for the Safety Coordinator position, the following conditions must be met:
- 7 years field experience with Construction
- In-depth understanding of all current government safety regulations (i.e., OSHA), workers’ compensation, emergency response planning & procedures, first aid, CPR, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene
- Petrochemical/Energy experience a plus
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work
- Good verbal and written communications skills and math aptitude
- Comfortable with the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
