Position Summary The Communication Department at Brigham Young University-Idaho seeks a Visiting Faculty Member to help fulfill the university’s mission by teaching and providing expertise in Communication or a related field aligned with the department’s curriculum. Responsibilities include teaching courses such as: Group Dynamics Interpersonal Communication Professional Presentations Persuasion Communication Ethics Public Speaking Conflict Management and Negotiation Organizational Principles Communication Research Writing for Communication Careers Mass Media and Society Additional duties include advising students, contributing to department and university initiatives, and pursuing professional development in teaching, learning, and scholarly activities within their discipline. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Advanced degree required (master’s or doctorate) in Communication or related field with professional or industry experience. Background and experience in one or more of the following is desirable: Organizational Leadership Strategic Communication Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to and potential for excellence in teaching. Work Schedule VISITING FACULTY: This visiting position is for a 1-year contract, renewable for a total of two academic years. Visiting faculty members teach 36-39 load hours annually, across Fall, Winter, and Spring Semesters. In the days immediately preceding and following semesters, faculty members attend meetings, grade papers, perform professional development activities, etc. Semesters last approximately 14 weeks, and annual faculty contracts cover 47.5 weeks.
