The dean will oversee faculty development, including the rank and status process, innovations in academic programs, and the operations and budgets of all college departments, schools, programs, and initiatives.
Brigham Young University is seeking applications for the position of Dean of the College of Humanities. The appointment is expected to take effect on July 1, 2025.
The College of Humanities houses eight departments: Asian & Near Eastern Languages, Comparative Arts & Letters, English, French & Italian, German & Russian, Linguistics, Philosophy, Spanish & Portuguese, an s Office of Digital Humanities and the Center for Language Studies.
The College of Humanities offer over 30 diverse programs devoted to culture, creativity, and critical thinking, that open doors to a great deal of skills and careers, producing capable, intuitive, educated people. Students of the humanities drive their own learning as they engage in discussion, research, language learning, and diving into the products of human expression. They come away with valuable experiences and marketable competencies.

Duties/Expectations: The dean will provide academic and executive leadership that promotes excellence in teaching, research, and mentorship to achieve student outcomes and help fulfill the university's mission. The dean will oversee faculty development, including the rank and status process; innovations in academic programs; and the operations and budgets of all departments, programs, and initiatives in the college including about 230 full-time faculty members and 65 staff/administrative employees.
