WHAT YOU'LL DO IN THIS POSITION
The Adjunct Faculty Member reports to the Law School's Associate Dean for Faculty & Curriculum. Some of the responsibilities of this role are:
Teach the Research and Writing course for international LLM students. This course provides fundamental instruction in basic legal research within the American legal tradition and personalized training in drafting legal documents in English for non-U.S. attorneys.
The adjunct professor will focus on the legal writing component of the course, working in coordination with a law librarian who will teach the research portion. The course meets once per week, and responsibilities include designing and delivering writing instruction, providing individualized feedback, and guiding students in adapting their legal writing skills to the U.S. legal system.
Other Expectations
The adjunct faculty member may occasionally be asked to attend department meetings.
She or he will be expected to spend some time outside of class to address questions related to the class.
WHAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS ROLE?
Required Degree: JD required. Required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
At least three years of legal practice experience
Strong teaching, mentoring, and feedback skills
Experience working with international students or English language learners is preferred but not required
