Payroll Assistant III
This position plays a vital role in ensuring that employee payments across the campus are both accurate and delivered on time. Serving as the go-to resource for campus departments and employees, it addresses inquiries related to timekeeping, paychecks, and the overall payroll process. In addition to overseeing these essential functions, the role involves supervising and providing training to Payroll’s student employees, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment. This position is key in maintaining smooth operations and promoting a positive payroll experience for everyone on campus.

Job Description
Payroll Assistant III
This position plays a vital role in ensuring that employee payments across the campus are both accurate and delivered on time. Serving as the go-to resource for campus departments and employees, it addresses inquiries related to timekeeping, paychecks, and the overall payroll process. In addition to overseeing these essential functions, the role involves supervising and providing training to Payroll’s student employees, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment. This position is key in maintaining smooth operations and promoting a positive payroll experience for everyone on campus.
What You Will Be Doing In This Position:
- Process Monthly and Bi-weekly payroll
- ACH bank returns and special check requests
- Assist customers with any problems concerning payroll procedure and processing
- Supervision of Student Employees (3-4 students)
- Assist other payroll office personnel in accomplishing their responsibilities
What qualifies you for this role:
- Two years office or customer service experience or an associate degree or fundamental payroll certification and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- A firm committee to BYU
- Four years office or customer service experience, or a bachelor’s degree, or certified payroll professional and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good phone demeanor and communication skills.
- Experience working in a payroll office.
- Knowledge of payroll regulations, including federal and state statutes, relating to various payroll functions.
- Experience working with non-resident aliens.
- Previous use, or familiarity with, PeopleSoft HCM.
