Job Overview
This role focuses on developing and applying EMMALAB, a software program used for endmember mixing calculations in hydrology. It involves expanding the software’s capabilities across multiple watersheds in the western U.S. and supporting an NSF proposal. Key responsibilities include refining model parameters, implementing coding solutions, selecting appropriate mixing techniques, and analyzing data for scientific publications. The position also requires securing research approvals, collaborating with experts and agencies for data access, and effectively communicating findings through reports and papers. Strong analytical, coding, and research skills are essential, along with the ability to coordinate with hydrologists and environmental organizations.

Bachelor’s degree in Geological Sciences
Preferred
Master’s degree in Geological Sciences 2 years’ research experience

What You’ll Do In This Position
- Key Responsibilities
- Apply EMMALAB to analyze water source contributions in multiple watersheds.
- Lead research efforts, with findings expected to result in two peer-reviewed publications.
- Develop and enhance software functionality to improve hydrological modeling accuracy.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on water resource management and hydrological research.
- Support proposal development for external funding, including a submission to the National Science Foundation (NSF).
- Research & Development Focus
- Expanding the capabilities of EMMALAB to accommodate diverse hydrological conditions.
- Refining endmember mixing techniques for more precise identification of water sources.
- Enhancing the software’s usability for researchers and water management professionals.
- Integrating feedback from field applications to improve model performance.
What qualifies you for this role:
