What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Director position at BRIGHT AND EARLY DISCOVERIES?
Bright and Early Discoveries (BED), is seeking a Program Director for one of our Child Care Centers (CCC) in Cutchogue. Our program take place during the day, all year round with several breaks and holidays observed throughout the year. Our program may service infants through school age.
The Program Director will work under the direction of the Regional Program Manager/Suffolk County Area Director and is responsible for being on-site for all day programming to oversee the functioning of the program daily. Must be available to work FULL TIME Monday through Friday, to either open on some days, 7:45AM to 4:15 PM OR the closing shift from 9:00AM to 5:30PM (actual program hours may vary based on operational needs of school and the operational needs of the organization).
Job Duties:
-Supervise and monitor the health, well-being, and safety of all children in the program in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings within the licensure requirements and regulations of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and organization’s policies.
-Work with the Regional Program Manager to complete and maintain required OCFS paperwork and licensure, keeping records up to date and accurate.
-Oversee the planning, organizing, and implementing of the daily child care program schedule of activities and lessons.
-Keep daily attendance, manage registration paperwork, keep appropriate records, incident reports, etc., and maintain all program equipment/supplies and inventory.
-Administer daily health screenings, basic first aid, and medications as may be required in accordance with OCFS and agency policies.
-Conduct and record regular fire and emergency evacuation drills with children and staff.
-Follow the appropriate disciplinary policies, resolve conflicts, and maintain effective communication with parents/guardians in a professional manner.
-Evaluate staff performance and manage staff schedules.
-Exhibit effective communication with staff, parents and guardians, and school administrators, BED Administrators and colleagues. and promote participation in programming.
-Work with the Regional Program Manager to sustain a high-quality school age childcare program that values partnerships between families, schools, and staff.
-Attend meetings and staff training as required.
-MUST have reliable transportation. This position may require that you work at different program locations throughout your work day/week.
-Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
-Associate’s degree in child development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field; or 18 college credits in the aforementioned fields; or a New York State Children's Program Administrator credential; or a School Age Child Care Credential or other Office recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period.
-Two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
-Must be able to provide credentials, licenses, and/or certifications and submit to fingerprinting and background checks.
-Must possess valid First Aid and CPR certifications but will provide training if necessary.
