Job Summary
The Program Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Bright Minds Summertime program, ensuring a safe, enriching, and engaging experience for all school-age participants. This role involves curriculum development, staff management, budget oversight, and parent communication. This will be a training role. The candidate will have 6-13 weeks of training with the current Summertime Program Director and other Bright Minds leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation:
- Design and implement a comprehensive summer program curriculum that aligns with the program's recreational and educational goals
- Plan and coordinate daily activities, field trips, and special events
- Ensure the program meets the needs of all learning types
Staff Management:
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Communicate weekly plans with staff in advance
- Communicate and manage dynamic staffing needs
- Conduct monthly staff meetings reporting
Budget Management:
- Manage the program budget
- Track program expenses
- Ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance with funding guidelines
Parent Communication:
- Establish and maintain effective communication with parents
- Communicate weekly plans with parents in advance
- Provide regular program and field trip plans and updates
- Address parent concerns and feedback in a timely and professional manner
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and licensing requirements
- Implement emergency procedures and conduct safety drills
- Maintain accurate program records and documentation
Qualifications
Education: Background in education or related field required. Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
Experience: Minimum of six months of experience in education, childcare, program management or a related role. Experience working with school-age children is required
Skills:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in planning and execution of planned activities
- Knowledge of child development and educational best practices
Certifications:
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Fingerprint background check
- KCCTO foundational health and safety training
- KDHE program director certification preferred

Additional Information
- Work Schedule: Full-time position during the summer months - 40 hours/week
- Work Environment: Large indoor gym setting with outdoor playground facilities (Holy Family Elementary Activity Center). As much outdoor time as weather permits. Regular weekly field trips off-site. Day trips out of town for fun, engaging new experiences with the children.
