Job Responsibilities for Medical Assistant
- Medication Refills:
- Answer and manage incoming calls related to medication refill requests from patients and pharmacies.
- Verify patient information and medication details in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to obtain approval for refills as needed.
- Document all refill requests and actions taken in the patient's medical record.
- Drug Prior Authorization:
- Assist in the completion and submission of prior authorization forms for medications.
- Communicate with insurance companies to facilitate the approval process.
- Follow up on pending authorizations and provide updates to the healthcare team and patients.
- Maintain accurate records of prior authorization requests and outcomes.
- Ordering Medications:
- Process and place orders for medications as directed by healthcare providers.
- Ensure timely delivery and availability of medications for patient use.
- Verify and manage inventory levels, reporting any discrepancies or shortages.
- Coordinate with pharmacies and suppliers to resolve any issues related to medication orders.
- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Assistance:
- Prepare and set up equipment for TMS sessions.
- Assist healthcare providers during TMS treatment sessions as needed.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions and report to the healthcare team.
- Educate patients about the TMS procedure and answer any questions they may have.
- Spravato (Esketamine) Assistance:
- Assist in the preparation and administration of Spravato treatments.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after administration for any side effects or reactions.
- Ensure compliance with REMS (Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy) program requirements.
- Document treatment details and patient responses in the medical record.
- General Duties:
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
- Perform other administrative and clinical tasks as assigned by the supervising healthcare provider.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.43 - $22.23 per hour
