Position: Residential Designer II
Reports to: Director of Residential Design
Direct reports: None
Exempt Status: Full Time - Exempt
Design Management
- Prepares full sets of construction drawings without oversight.
- Prepares some conceptual designs.
- Prepares site plans, fencing plans and provides ongoing maintenance of plan library.
- May coordinate with sub-contractors.
- May manage permit submittal process to ensure jobs move forward in a timely manner.
- Manages and maintains exterior color packages and submits for ACC approval.
- Conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
Knowledge and Skills
- College Degree in CAD Design and five years’ experience as a residential Designer or similar experience preferred.
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in a field of design, focusing on residential needs and specifications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Requires the ability to interface with customers, vendors and subcontractors. Also requires the preparation of reports using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.
- Ability to solve problems and multi-task.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Photoshop, Auto CAD and Sketchup software programs.
- Advanced knowledge in architectural field through learning or certification.
- Knowledge of basic structural design principles and proficient in engineering software programs.
Physical Demands
- Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (e.g., processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting, etc.).
- May be required to perform occasional light physical labor
