Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support our production team by recommending and implementing mechanical and automated solutions that drive cost savings, enhance productivity, and simplify production methods, all while prioritizing safety and optimizing labor. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation technologies and contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Propose and implement technology solutions to streamline manufacturing processes, increase efficiency, and maintain/improve product quality.
- Develop and implement manufacturing cells for part handling, assembly, testing, and secondary finishing operations for injection molded products.
- Program and maintain PLCs, 6-axis industrial robots, Cartesian robots, and collaborative robots to support production, automation, and finishing of injection molded parts.
- Design mechanical and electrical systems to automate production and testing processes using 3D CAD software.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Automation Lab, and other departments to develop and build control systems (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) for automation systems.
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on labor reduction, cost savings, and increased production output.
- Interface with department managers to support production goals and troubleshoot issues related to product and process quality.
- Work on engineering changes and new project startups, contributing to the APQP process.
- Provide input for new product quotes that require EOAT (End of Arm Tooling) or automation in secondary processing.
- Develop and implement work instructions, training procedures, and manufacturing-related documents.
- Design and procure necessary fixtures and tools to meet customer product specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. BSME preferred but may be waived based on relevant experience. Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification is a plus.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in industrial automation and manufacturing cell layout. Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and a strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, robotics, and automation technologies.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies, automation systems, and various forms of robotics.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience with ERP systems (DELMIAWorks preferred).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform tasks that require extensive use of hands, wrists, shoulders, legs, waist, and back. Ability to work at heights and in tight spaces.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Lean manufacturing (5S) experience.
- Knowledge of vision inspection systems.
- Experience with process control systems, advanced PLC programming, systems integration, and advanced automation technologies.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment with the requirement to be on foot during most of the shift.
- Exposure to heat, dust, and physical labor, with occasional lifting of heavier items.
