Position Title: Ohio Pet Foods, Inc.and Blackwood Pet Food, LLC. Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting functions for Ohio Pet Foods, Inc. and Blackwood Pet Food, LLC., (“OPF” and “BW” or the “Companies”) located in Lisbon, Ohio. The Staff Accountant will provide support to the General Manager of OPF and BW as well as the Controller.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for compiling and analyzing the financial information, preparing periodic financial reporting, and assisting in the functions of the Controller. The Staff Accountant will create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensure financial information has been recorded accurately. A strong Staff Accountant should be self-sufficient and capable of maintaining the accounting records and timely preparation of reporting independently with the Controllers review. The Staff Accountant will perform financial presentation and reconciliation of internal accounts.
This role requires on-site work while training. After training is complete, a hybrid schedule will be offered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Maintain, prepare, and summarize the activities of the OPF and BW entities including but not limited to:
o Internal monthly financial statements including concise analysis of the results, with review from the Controller
o Review of the OPF and BW GLs including quarterly BSR
o Assist in the budgeting process including a ‘bottoms-up’ build of expense items
o Complete variance analysis to both the budget and the prior year financials on a monthly and year-to-date basis
o Complete weekly 13-week cash flow forecasting and communicate any changes to cash needs immediately to the Controller
o Weekly working capital updates including updates of inventory balances to the sales and manufacturing teams
o Assist in providing timely information to all third party consultants including the auditors and tax advisors
· Have a deep understanding of the ERP system and utilize the data to present concise and clear analyses
o The Staff Accountant will be expected to learn and support reports in the ERP system.
· Review the general invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
· Implement and help monitor overall accounting controls. Including, but not limited to,
o Cash disbursement controls are followed
o Oversee and reconcile inventory cycle counts and annual physical inventory
o Ensure that proper controls and procedures are in place for the tracking and valuation of business assets and inventory
· Follow all companies’ policies and procedures.
Essential for Success:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
· Minimum of 1 years of related staff accounting or equivalent level experience
· ERP system experience, with GP Dynamics or Macola is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and with the ability to interact at all levels within the organization
- Assist other personnel to accomplish tasks from time to time

Work Environment:
Professional office and manufacturing environment. Performance of this position will occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protection equipment such as to follow Food Safety procedures will be required. Floors may be wet and slippery when in the manufacturing area and you will be exposed to variable temperatures when on the manufacturing floor. Primary office environment is ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. Limited travel and full-time office presence are required.
