GENERAL INFORMATION: Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. RESPONSIBILITIES: Brightpoint Community College invites applications for the position of Outreach Coordinator. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing outreach, recruitment, and engagement initiatives to promote the College’s programs and services to prospective students, families, K-12 schools, and community organizations. The Outreach Coordinator will lead recruitment efforts by building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, representing the college at school visits, college fairs, and community events, and coordinating on- and off-campus activities that support enrollment goals. This position also oversees the Chester Student Ambassador team, providing leadership, training, and supervision to ensure effective support for tours, events, and outreach activities. In addition, the Outreach Coordinator must maintain up-to-date knowledge of college programs, services, and enrollment processes to effectively advise prospective students and families. The role includes managing outreach and recruitment data through a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, analyzing engagement outcomes, and contributing to data-informed strategies to enhance recruitment efforts and student success.
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience in delivering presentations and effectively communicating with diverse audiences, including students, families, educators, and community organizations. Ability to organize, plan, and execute events, workshops, and outreach initiatives. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams). Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel to community locations and high schools within the service region. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: Experience in outreach, recruitment, admissions, student services, community engagement, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Familiarity with college application, financial aid, and enrollment processes. Experience working in higher education, particularly in community college settings. Experience developing and maintaining partnerships with K-12 schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Experience managing data related to outreach activities and preparing reports. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, student information systems, or related technologies used for student engagement and tracking.
