Peer Recovery Supporter Job Responsibilities

Maintain project logs, reports, and records in appropriate files and databases.
Provide recovery education to individuals for every stage of change from pre-contemplation

to sustained recovery maintenance.

Provide a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is

possible, in a positive and professional manner.

Assist individuals to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and areas of

improvement regarding recovery as well as developing their own plan for progressing
recovery.

Promote self-advocacy by assisting individuals in expressing their voice, needs, goals and

objectives.

Actively identify and support links to community resources that support the individual’s

goals and interests.

Link individuals to appropriate professional resources including, but not limited to, case

managers, counselors, physicians, nurse practitioners, and/or psychiatrist.

Provide encouragement for opportunities to get involved in community-based activities.
Identify barriers to full participation in community resources and developing strategies to

overcome those barriers.

Maintain contact by phone and/or email with recovering person to insure their ongoing

success and to provide re-engagement support in partnership with others in agency if
needed.

Attend required meetings including individual and group supervision and quarterly inservice.
Communicate needs of patient to the appropriate staff member.
Co-facilitate evidence-based group therapy sessions, when necessary.

Peer Recovery Supporter Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Must be a Certified Peer Recovery Supporter; CDCA or higher preferred
