The base pay range for this position starts at $69,000 per year. Pay may vary, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, we provide access to the NJ pension system and a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.

About Us
Founded in 2023, Paterson Prep Charter School is a free public charter school currently serving over 375 students in grades K-2 and 5-6. As a growing school, we plan to expand by adding one grade each year to both our elementary and middle school programs until we reach full enrollment for grades K-8. Next year, we will serve grades K-3 and 5-7.

Position Overview
To support the development, implementation, and coordination of instructional programs that meet the unique academic, language, and socio-emotional needs of multilingual learners (ML) in alignment with the schools mission. The Coordinator will work closely with teachers, assist with curriculum, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for English Language Learners (ELL) while teaching groups part-time as well.
Program Development & Implementation:
- Collaborate with teachers to develop, implement, and monitor language acquisition programs and culturally responsive instructional strategies for ML students.
- Design and maintain curriculum for ML students aligned with state standards and language proficiency benchmarks.
- Ensure that all educational programs are linguistically appropriate and academically rigorous for ML students and their English language proficiency level.
Professional Development:
- Support teachers with instructional strategies, lesson planning, and classroom management tailored to the needs of ML students.
- Organize and facilitate professional development sessions focused on second language acquisition and effective ML teaching strategies.
Compliance & Accountability:
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing ML programs, including Title III and ESL requirements.
- Coordinate the administration of assessments used to measure the academic and language progress of ML students (e.g., WIDA, ACCESS testing).
- Maintain accurate records and data related to ML students, including language proficiency scores and student progress, and teacher schedules.
- Support the development of systems to monitor the academic progress of ML students.
- Provide data-driven insights to inform decisions about program improvements and interventions.
Instructional Support:
- Provide coaching and guidance to teachers in integrating language acquisition objectives across subject areas and grade levels.
- Serve as a resource for instructional materials and methods that support the academic success of ML students.
- Teach classes as part of regular responsibilities, ensuring that instructional support and classroom teaching are balanced.
Family & Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with families of ML students by organizing regular meetings, workshops, and events to help parents support their childrens education.
- Develop communication strategies that ensure parents understand their rights and the educational opportunities available to their children.
- Work with community organizations to provide additional support to ML families.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work closely with administrators, teachers, and support staff to ensure that the needs of MLL students are addressed.
- Participate in meetings and planning sessions related to ML student achievement and inclusion.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and external agencies focused on multilingual education.
School Culture:
- Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
- Partner with students families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their child's learning needs.
- Engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
- Participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community, model our core values, and encourage student achievement.
- Partner with your grade level teams to develop, monitor, and practice instructional strategies.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Knowledge of second language acquisition theories and best practices for teaching ML students.
- Proven ability in curriculum development and instructional strategies for multilingual learners.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and staff. A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred).
- Academic expertise in core content areas
- Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Possession of current New Jersey ESL certification (required)
- Relevant urban, elementary teaching experience with demonstrated student results (preferred)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
