What You'll Do
About this role:
The Heavy Equipment Lube Technician will service multiple types of construction heavy equipment by topping fluids, lubricating vital systems, completing oil changes and minor repairs. The Lube Tech will also coordinate the scheduling of preventive maintenance.
- Coordinate with Equipment Maintenance Coordinator, Foremen and Superintendents to schedule preventive maintenance.
- Perform preventive maintenance to fleet of heavy construction equipment.
- Top fluids, lubricating vital systems, complete oils changes and minor repairs.
- Diagnose engine, mechanical, and fuel system issues on equipment including engines, drive train components, and electrical systems.
- Utilizes tools for minor repair and maintenance.
- Submit work orders, accurately document repairs and unit history, etc.
- Involved with maintaining a clean and safe shop environment.
- Keeps supervisor informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform assignments or adversely affect Company operations.
- Other projects or duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Job may require working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Job may require the operation of equipment in all elements without climate control.
- Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities. (Porta-Johns).
- Job requires employees to have required hand tools with them at all times while at work site.
- Must wear personnel protective equipment at all times. (i.e. Hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.
- Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.
- Ability to work 8 - 10 hours per day, night shift, 45 - 55 hours per week and overtime as required with little or on short notice.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – (THE EMPLOYEE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMODATIONS):
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
- Ability to lift by oneself work loads of 50 lbs.
- Climb ladders of all types.
- Must possess good vision / hearing. (Normal or corrected).
- Must be able to make a transition from employee parking area of street into construction areas and to gain access to all levels of the building or structure, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use.
- Ability to work while constantly moving on one's feet.
What You'll Bring
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school Graduate, Holder of G.E.D. preferred
- Equivalent experience
- Technical school is helpful
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
- Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
LICENSES:
- Valid Driver’s License
- CDL required
