About the role :

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the success of large and complex projects, or multiple projects simultaneously. This role involves both managing and directing project teams and actively contributing to the execution of key deliverables. The ideal candidate will take ownership of critical tasks, working hands-on throughout all project phases, from pursuit to completion, while fostering collaboration and guiding the team's efforts.

Essential Functions :

  • In addition to the leadership and management skills outlined below, the Senior Project Manager must be willing and able to roll up their sleeves and produce work to support project goals. This position requires the ability to delegate and hold others accountable while also producing key deliverables that will vary depending on the size, complexity, and needs of the project. The ability and willingness to not only manage but also produce is critical to the success of the position.
  • Act as a skilled mentor to team members and provide a safe place for individuals to express their concerns and needs.
  • Ensure that all project team members are setting and meeting project learning goals.
  • Help promote and market Brinkman Construction to generate additional project opportunities.
  • Assist BD Manager in developing and maintaining client, broker, and vendor contacts to generate new and repeat business.
  • Assist preconstruction department in creating preliminary cost estimates and project feasibility studies.
  • Assist in developing responses to RFP's including cost analysis and strategic planning.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of contract language in both owner and subcontract agreements and can leverage those documents to guide the overall success of a project.
  • Is expected to be able to handle and / or advise on negotiations that involve a high degree of difficulty and risk.
  • Is capable to provide overall direction to several project teams with the support of Project Managers running individual projects. Able to understand the big risk factors on multiple projects and can leverage teams to effectively mitigate those risks.
  • Provides the final review on project cost reports prior to their being issued to BCI Management and is responsible for understanding the high-level details of buyout status, potential risk factors, potential contingency / allowance expenditures, and should be able to explain any profit fluctuations to upper management.
  • Capable and responsible to manage the design phase of projects to ensure early on that project budget, scope, schedule and quality will be achieved.
  • Monitor the contract administration of the project by its Project Managers. This will include reviewing monthly pay applications, change orders, and monthly project margin reviews.
  • Is very vocal with their vision and strategy to achieve successful outcomes for individuals as well as projects.
  • Will meet regularly with staff to identify personal and workplace goals, conduct performance appraisals and monitor development plans.
  • Will be integral with recruiting young talent from college and be responsible for developing and managing staffing requirements.
  • Will be engaged with Senior Management to help develop and implement BCI strategic business plan and project processes and procedures.

Requirements

Education and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of project management experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a lead role with a variety of ground-up product types - including Medical, Manufacturing, General Commercial, Industrial, Multifamily.
  • Lead experience with project size of $50M preferred.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft suite of applications and project management applications.
  • Current driver's license which has been valid for the past 12 consecutive months.
