We are seeking an experienced and motivated Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our team. This individual will have the opportunity to grow into the role of Surveying Principal, leading and managing our Survey Department.

Position Summary:
The Professional Land Surveyor will oversee all aspects of the Survey Department, including field operations, project management, client relations, and business development. The ideal candidate is passionate about surveying, has strong leadership skills, and is excited about the opportunity to help shape the future of the department.
This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial-minded PLS to make a significant impact on the organization and eventually assume the leadership role as Surveying Principal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Department Leadership: Manage the Survey Department, ensuring quality, efficiency, and profitability in all operations.
- Survey Project Management: Supervise and perform boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and other surveying services.
- Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of survey technicians and field crew members.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all survey work complies with state and federal regulations, professional standards, and industry best practices.
- Technology Integration: Leverage and implement the latest surveying technologies, including GPS, robotic total stations, and 3D scanning, to improve workflows and deliverables.
- Strategic Planning: Assist in the long-term vision, goals, and planning for the Survey Department’s growth and success.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: New York State Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in land surveying, including fieldwork and project management.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GPS technology, robotic total stations, and GIS software.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with clients and team members effectively.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: Desire to take ownership of the department, drive its growth, and assume a principal leadership role.
