Location: On site at both Jackson and Ypsilanti Mi
Travel Requirement: This role involves regular travel between our Jackson, Ypsilanti, and Chelsea sites to foster seamless collaboration and support across teams.
Overview
The HR Business Partner Associate supports team member relations, drives HR strategies, and ensures effective cross-department communication. Working under the guidance of Senior Directors and HR Business Partners, this role provides strategic HR support, aligning business goals with HR initiatives while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Key responsibilities include fostering a collaborative, inclusive workplace culture and assisting with performance management, organizational development, and change management.
What you’ll do
Team Member Relations
- Serve as the primary contact for team members and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Support workforce planning, managing leaves, disciplinary actions, and team member development.
- Collaborate with leaders to align HR strategies with business goals and develop action plans for engagement and satisfaction.
- Assist with restructuring, job descriptions, and market data analysis to ensure competitive positioning.
- Provide HR metrics to provide data-driven recommendations and improvements.
HRIS and Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate data in HRIS and related systems, processing changes, leaves, unemployment claims, and engagement activities.
- Complete necessary reports and administrative tasks to support HR operations.
Compliance
- Ensure adherence to labor laws and collective bargaining agreements, conduct audits and support regulatory requirements.
- Represent HR in State of Michigan and CMS audits.
Relationship Building
- Foster trust and collaboration with leaders, team members, and stakeholders while managing sensitive situations with empathy.
- Support engagement initiatives and monitor workplace satisfaction through feedback and surveys.
Compensation
- Research and prepare salary studies to support competitive and equitable compensation decisions.
- Partners with talent acquisition for fair, market-aligned offers to attract and retain talent.
Training and Development
- Identify and assist in delivering training programs to team members at all levels.
What it takes
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of one year experience in Human Resource roles.
- Basic understanding of HR principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing competing priorities and adapting to changing circumstances effectively.
- Role requires travel between Holland, Muskegon and Grand Rapids.
