Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ wounds and overall health status.
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans based on diagnostic evaluations.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care management and prevention strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including occupational health specialists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated on the latest standards in wound care and hospital medicine practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care services.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license in the state of practice.
- Experience in wound care management or related fields such as infectious disease care or hospital medicine is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly Athenahealth, is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient confidentiality.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Previous experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) settings is advantageous but not required.
- Knowledge of current standards in wound care practices is essential.
