- Point person for any payer audit requests.
- Maintain current knowledge of coding and documentation requirements.
- Follow HIPPA and Medicare guidelines.
- Resource for ICD-10 training and education to physicians, coders, billers and office staff.
- Coordinates the dissemination and education of providers and staff on chart audit findings.
- Maintains current, accurate, retrievable records of audit finding and education using
- Intelicode software.
- Provides quarterly report to the AVP BHMG and providers.
- Maintains currency of coding and documentation manuals.
- Develops quarterly auditing monitoring compliance activities.
- Reviews 20 charts per provider accessing EMR software.
- Ability to audit 8 charts per hour.
- Benchmark findings to national average bell curve.
- Provides audit report to AVP and Billing Manager within 48 hours of chart review.
- Participates in departmental in-services by identifying topic for presentation, being
- responsible for presentation.
- Seeks out opportunities for learning and skill development independently.
- Backup of surgical coding and charge entry.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Detail orientated with ability to prioritize and
- function independently under general supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to follow written and verbal direction with multiple
- steps.
- Educational / Minimum Requirements:
- AS degree with three years’ health experience. BS Degree preferred.
- Must successfully complete a coding certificate program.
- Must be a Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Additional auditing experience strongly preferred.
- State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:
- Certified and experienced medical coding background is required.
- CPC Required.
- CPMA preferred.
- General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as
- mandated by Hospital.

- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend for extended periods of time.
- Work Environment:
- Normal office conditions. Requires continued use of computer screen and data input
- requiring fine dexterity and movements.Vision and hearing corrected to normal.
- Cognitive Requirements:
- Ability to comprehend and execute written and/or oral directions. Ability to work
- independently. Ability to make judgmental decisions. Ability to follow through and complete tasks with minimal direction.
