Seeking a dynamic elementary school principal to engage, challenge, and inspire a student body of more than 300 in grades PK-5. The successful candidate must have a minimum master's degree with three years of successful teaching experience and hold a valid Tennessee license with appropriate administrative endorsement. JOB GOAL
To continually communicate a clear vision of the school’s mission and high expectations; to provide leadership for the accomplishment of shared goals and objectives for the school’s program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides leadership and supervision to the work of the teachers in the efficient and effective implementation of the educational program of the individual school unit.
- Works in cooperation with supervisory staff, superintendent, and Board to develop the instructional program to meet the needs of the students.
- Provides leadership and supervision to the implementation of the guidance program within the school unit.
- Submits recommendations to the director of schools regarding the appointment, assignment, promotion, transfer, and dismissal of all personnel assigned to the school under his/her care.
- Assigns specific duties and communicates the duties, responsibilities, and authority to personnel assigned to the school.
- Evaluates personnel performance according to state guidelines and makes recommendations for reemployment.
- Prepares requests for instructional supplies, capital outlay equipment, and maintenance of the school.
- Informs the director of schools on matters concerning the progress and condition of the total school program under his/her supervision.
- Monitors the effectiveness of the educational program in meeting the individual needs of the students.
- Provides leadership for the instructional staff for planning adaptations of educational programs to improve educational efficiency of the school.
- Interprets the various educational programs and activities to the patrons of the school under his/her supervision.
- Establishes procedures to maintain and protect the property from loss, misuse, or damage other than through ordinary wear and tear.
- Serves as an ex-officio member of each committee that involves staff members or parents, and be present or have designated administrative representative present at meetings which involve activities sponsored by the school.
- Appoints a staff member to be in charge when he/she is out of the building.
- Provides leadership in setting annual goals and objectives for the school.
- Utilizes available technology for management, communication, and learning.
- Conducts emergency drills on a regular basis to ensure student safety.
- Performs such other duties as may reasonably be prescribed by the director of schools.
