AT A GLANCE:


The Manager of People Operations is responsible for delivering employee relations counseling and support to managers and employees at Broad River Retail, LLC/dba Ashley. The ideal candidate self-manages moderate to high-risk cases on a variety of employee relations topics including, but not limited to, Policy, SOPs, attendance, performance, behavior, and conflict resolution. The role also oversees People Business Partner’s who manages Workers Compensation and Unemployment claims. The Manager, People Operations will report directly to the Associate Director, People Operations.


DAY IN THE LIFE AS THIS MEMORY MAKER:


  • Identify and analyze employee relations issues that require in-depth review of Policies, practices, and legislation to evaluate potential risk.
  • Thoroughly research all claims to identify root cause of issues.
  • Document all claims to include a relevant, factual narrative of details and rationale for recommendations.
  • Independently use sound judgement to mitigate risk, weigh the importance and validity of information to form fact-based opinions, solve problems and make formal recommendations.
  • Provide premier client care, conveying empathy, patience and utilizing strong listening skills.
  • Provide front line support in the prevention, investigation, resolution, and referral of employee relations concerns.
  • Collaborate and lead People Business Partners and other members of the People Team, when necessary, on problem resolution.
  • Report and oversee Workers Compensation claims.
  • Responsible for supervising the unemployment function governed by the People Business Partners.
  • Create and provide weekly and/or monthly reporting as requested.
  • Supervise and modify on an ongoing basis policies, procedures, and other guidance documents, including incorporating best practices, and addressing changes in employment law regulations and industry practices.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure all departmental policies are protected and implemented effectively and equitably.
  • Participate on internal committees, working groups, and special projects as requested.
  • Partner with the leadership team, external support, other staff, and/or legal counsel to resolve employee issues fairly, consistently, and expeditiously.
  • Ensure leadership is trained on the performance review process, and all employees receive regular, timely feedback and annual reviews.
  • Manage the ongoing delivery of the People team projects, setting objectives and timelines, tracking owners and achievements, facilitating change management, and assessing progress and blockers.
  • Supervise all organizational occupational health, safety, and security programs including workers compensation, OSHA standards training and reporting compliance, and contingency plans.
  • Partner with Learning & Development to ensure appropriate end user training for compliance related topics.
  • Perform regular business process reviews with key leaders across the Company.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:


  • Supervise 2-3 direct reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related field.
  • 10 years of experience as an HR Generalist.
  • 7 years experience in either a business partner or management role.
  • 5 years of experience applying knowledge of Policy, employment law and regulations.
  • SHRM or PHR certification preferred.
  • Excellent follow-through and attention to detail, with the ability to track and manage multiple critical initiatives.
  • Experience leading a team, directly or indirectly.
  • Poise, confidence, and discretion required.
  • Proficiency with Office365, applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS, onboarding, and performance management tools.
  • Strong cognitive skills required; including the ability to learn quickly, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously and be highly productive without needing much supervision.
  • Experience leading diverse project teams to successful outcomes.
  • Strong communication, executive presentation skills, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, problem solver, who is flexible and adaptive to change.
  • High degree of attention to detail and able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of FLSA, Title VII of CRA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, 5500 filings, and other applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to perform additional functions that may be assigned at the discretion of the Senior Director, People.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is:

  • Ability to work independently, as well as, in a collaborative team environment within an office setting.
  • Physical requirements such as extended periods of sitting and computer use may be required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and/or electronically.
  • Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.
  • Required to work a hybrid work schedule reporting to the office in Fort Mill, SC as required by leadership with opportunity for remote days
