Role Description
We are seeking an Associate to join our private equity investing team. The ideal candidate is a versatile and entrepreneurial individual with a strong technical foundation and a passion for investing in and growing small businesses.
The role is located in the Charlotte, NC office, will work side by side with the firm’s senior staff, and be responsible for the following activities within the organization:
Key Responsibilities
Deal Sourcing and Execution
- Support the identification and evaluation of potential investment opportunities
- Develop analyses to identify and assess key financial and operating metrics of potential acquisitions
- Lead the preparation of materials for and participate in investment committee meetings
- Support all aspects of the due diligence and underwriting process, to include: project planning, excel modeling, preparing investment materials, service provider coordination and management, valuation, transaction structuring, deal negotiations, and transaction closing
- Lead and own certain workstreams and functions within the due diligence and transaction execution process
Portfolio company support
- Collaborate with portfolio company executives to identify, develop, and implement strategic initiatives and operational enhancements
- Assist with portfolio management activities
- Support portfolio company management in the identification, acquisition, and integration of add-on acquisitions
Additional organizational support
- Build and maintain strong relationships with investment bankers, company management teams, and other industry professionals
- Manage and mentor junior staff
- Support ad hoc projects and firm operations
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience
- Prior experience in private equity, investment banking, or corporate finance / transaction advisory is strongly preferred
- Proven ability to synthesize key financial and operational data and deliver analysis to facilitate senior level decision making
- Proven ability to take initiative, collaborate, and work successfully in a lean team environment
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with a track record of building and owning financial models (LBO and operating); familiarity with various equity and returns waterfall structures is a plus
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, flexibility, acute attention to detail, well organized, and energetic work ethic
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, desire to work as part of a team
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently to solve problems
- High standard of integrity
