What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembler I position at Broadwind Heavy Fabrications, Inc.?
Broadwind Towers & Heavy Fabrications is growing! We are hiring Assemblers for our day shifts, one position is open on A-Shift (6 am to 6 pm Monday through Thursday) and one position is open on C-Shift ( 6 am to 6 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The C-Shift Position comes with a $4.50/hr shift diff. The role of an Assembler two-fold – 1) to manage kits and parts on arrival and 2) to handle beginning level and/or less complex assembly duties. In order to meet customer expectations and timing, in this role Assemblers may switch product focus based on operational needs. Good work ethic and excellent attendance is a must! This is a very Team Focused department. Duties are primarily for Towers, but could include assembly related duties for Heavy Fabrications projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include some or all of the following responsibilities)

Assembly – Level I
Manage pre-kitted materials (open, count, sort, match, record)
- Complete appropriate process for reporting missing/damaged parts and communicate information timely
- Move/shelve/store parts and materials
- Assemble small parts and components according to customer specifications
- Perform basic assembly within towers sections as directed which could include any or all of the following:
o wire lights; cut, crimp, and strip electrical wire per work instructions - o ladder and platform assembly

- o install doors
o assemble other components as directed
o tarp sections
o record job and section information in time matrix as needed
Actively support all EHS and safety initiatives
Handle other duties/projects as assigned
- Note - May be learning duties related to level II Assembler

- High school diploma or GED required
- Additional education (classes, certificate or Associate’s degree) in a related subject or field is a plus
- Experience working with inventory, parts or part assembly is desired
- Must be able to read and follow work instructions
- Experience in a manufacturing environment desired

Ability to efficiently and independently use a variety of tools a plus, which could include any of the following: screw driver, ratchet, scraper/sandpaper, electrical wire tools, torque wrench, tape measure, impact wrench, punch set and hammer, drill, power sanders, grinders and buffer
- Mechanical ability, measuring skills and blueprint reading are a plus
- Able to locate, reference, understand and apply all work instructions pertaining to current job or project.
- Sense of urgency and accountability.
Basic material handling duties - candidates must be forklift and vertical/basket lift certified or ability to be certified after hire; overhead crane certification may also be required after hire.
